For Valentine's Day, I got Maureen a 5GB Creative Labs Zen Micro MP3 player preloaded with a bunch of albums purchased from AllOfMP3. Admittedly, I now use it daily during the week for shuttling files to and from work and time-shifting radio shows, and she uses it on weekends for the drives between Albany and Long Island to avoid the Great Radio Suck known as the Hudson Valley and Catskills... not that any FM radio is worth listening to these days.
I got an RMA for it on Friday and today it's getting packaged up and sent back to Creative for repair. The culprit: The headphone jack cuts out when it is slightly pushed forward... which emans that if it's in my jacket pocket, with each step I take, the audio compeltely cuts out for a split second. Not what I expect after two months of gentle use.
In fact, the whole headphone jack assembly feels a little loose. It's very disappointing, and it appears to be a recurring problem for many users. At least they offered me an RMA number without any hesitation or questioning (it's almost as if they know it's a recurring problem with the Zen Micro).
